STORY OF HBB

Usama Douglah, often known as HBB (Habibi), a DJ and Producer living in the city of Los Angeles. HBB, derived from "Habibi," an endearing term in Arabic meaning "my love" or "my dear," was raised in the lively rhythms of Baghdad, Iraq, and has since set off on an international musical journey. He left the Middle East at the age of 15 to travel to East Africa, where he stayed in Tanzania and Burundi until finishing his high school studies.

HBB came to the US in 2009, when he was 19 years old, to study at the University of Southern California, where he completed his master's and undergraduate degrees in civil engineering. By day, he works as a project manager for an industrial real estate developer in Southern California, overseeing the development of warehouses.

When HBB borrowed a friend's mixer in 2016, he embarked on a musical journey. HBB was immediately influenced by the unique sets of musicians such as Solomun and realized he had a natural knack for combining beats and establishing a memorable ambiance. What began as a lighthearted experiment at house parties and pre-games quickly turned into an uncontrollable devotion.

Motivated by Solomun's adaptable style, HBB declines to stick to only one genre. His sets are captivating musical journeys that skillfully combine progressive, minimal/tech, and organic tracks. Although his initial releases focus on minimal and tech house, HBB is preparing to integrate his Middle Eastern heritage into the organic house scene by 2024. HBB stands apart in the cutthroat field of DJing thanks to his ability to engage with his audience. Every performance turns into an interactive trip where the audience plays a vital role in the story. When HBB works with live musicians like drummers and violinists, he takes his shows to new heights.

The Turning point for HBB came in 2023 when he released four original tracks under different labels, including "How I Knew" under "Strictly Records", "I Set Your Funk EP" under "Strictly Selected," and “Don’t Walk Away” under his own Label called “HBB Records”, which swept him throughout the globe. HBB demonstrated his adaptability to a variety of environments in 2022 with performances at desert parties and festival appearances at Lightning in a Bottle and Sunset 2 Sunrise.
